Mehmeti steals the spotlight as Red Bulls beat Miami
Adri Mehmeti starred in New York’s win over Inter Miami, while Lionel Messi came off the bench and was largely neutralized.
For fantasy squads, Adri Mehmeti (MID, New York Red Bulls) is the takeaway: he started, played 85 minutes, and was central to a 2-0 win over Inter Miami with 82 touches and 55 accurate passes. That kind of midfield involvement matters in Kickbase because 10-minute scoring blocks reward sustained minutes and high volume, even without goals. Lionel Messi (FWD, Inter Miami) did not start and was ineffective after the hour mark, so his short-term output was capped. Risk: Low. Hold Mehmeti, monitor Messi.
Fantasy Analysis
Mehmeti’s value is tied to role and volume, not just attacking returns: 85 minutes and heavy passing involvement suggest a stable floor if this midfield usage continues. In Kickbase, that matters because every 10-minute block counts, so a player who consistently stays on the pitch can outscore flashier but shorter appearances. Messi’s bench role here is only one match sample, but if Miami keep easing him in, his minutes ceiling stays capped until he starts regularly.
