Diego Chará to retire after next season
Portland captain Diego Chará says he’ll retire after the 2027 Sprint Season, ending a 16-season Timbers career.
For fantasy managers, Diego Chará’s retirement announcement is a long-range note, not an immediate lineup problem. The Portland Timbers midfielder/defensive anchor has confirmed he will play next season before hanging up his boots, so his minutes remain intact in the short term. In Kickbase terms, that means no near-term hit to 10-minute scoring blocks. Risk: Low. Long-term hold.
Fantasy Analysis
Chará should remain usable this season because the retirement comes after the next campaign, not now. His value is tied to steady minutes and defensive floor, so the key question is whether he keeps starting as Portland’s midfield base. Reassess only when the Timbers’ lineup pattern changes near the end of next season.
