Crew surge into playoff spot after 2-0 road win
Columbus climbed into ninth in the East with a fourth straight win, while Brais Mendez is close to returning from a leg injury.
For fantasy managers, Columbus is peaking at the right time: Gonzalo Tapia (FWD, Columbus Crew) scored and assisted while starting for the injured Brais Mendez (MID, Columbus Crew), and Santi Rodriguez (MID, Columbus Crew) added the second. Patrick Schulte (GK, Columbus Crew) posted a shutout with seven saves, so the Crew’s form is boosting both attacking and clean-sheet upside. With Mendez expected back soon, Tapia’s minutes are the key watchpoint. Risk: Medium. Short-term. Minutes: Reduced for some attackers, uncertain for Mendez. Monitor.
Fantasy Analysis
Tapia’s start in place of Mendez shows Columbus will use him if the leg injury keeps their preferred option out, but that also means his role is tied to availability rather than guaranteed security. In Kickbase, his value rises when he starts because 10-minute blocks and full-match upside matter more than cameo appearances. Schulte also gets a boost from the shutout plus save volume, but the Crew’s next two matches will decide whether this run is sustainable.
